15th Century Experience
The Wall Paintings Workshop has conserved a number of impressive Doom paintings, one of the favourite subjects in 15th century church art.
The medieval Doom is one of the most impressive and powerful images and we have been fortunate over the years to have been able to conserve a number of these including that at Woodham Ferrers in Essex, where tiny figures dressed in monks habits are dragged towards the jaws of Hell. Other popular subject matter was the martyrdom of Saints and unusual examples include the inverted female saint found on a window reveal at Burton in Sussex.
