St Teilo's Church, St Fagans National Museum of Welsh Life
Demolished more than 20 years ago the recently reconstructed church of St Teilos is being redecorated throughout with early 16th century wall paintings. The redundant church had lost its roof and fallen into disrepair when areas of wall painting began to become visible beneath the limewash. The rescued fragments, most of which have been dated circa 1520, are kept in the museum. These paintings form the basis for accurate reconstructions which are being painted on the walls of the newly rebuilt church. Traditional painting techniques and earth pigments are being employed throughout.
